Since 1986 the LVSC has hosted the United States National Wrestling Championships, an Olympic wrestling trials qualifying tournament in Las Vegas. Over ninety-three athletes that qualified through that tournament went on to represent the USA at three Olympic games, winning a total of fifteen medals. The LVSC was honored in 1996, when founder and CEO, Larry Barnson, was selected as part of the administrative staff for the summer Olympic games in Atlanta, Georgia, and again in 2003 for the FILA World Championships. Founded in 1986 by native Las Vegan, UNLV graduate, local educator and coach, Larry Barnson, the LVSC has not only showcased world class athletic achievements, but has also given back to the community.

How We Began The LVSC was originally founded in 1986 by Larry Barnson and featured the U.S. National Wrestling Championships that year. Larry is a native Nevadan that grew up participating in local youth sport programs and went on to become a coach for 20 years in the Clark County School District.
